Product & Experience
with De Karanganjar Koffieplatage
De Karanganjar Koffieplantage is a deep dive into Indonesia’s history and family entrepreneurship. There’s no major reason to visit the small town of Blitar, except for the chance to explore this hidden gem beyond Java’s well-known tourist routes.
Bihma, the current manager of the plantation, represents the third generation of Bahasas to take over the land after the Dutch expulsion during Indonesia’s independence. But more than just continuing the coffee-growing tradition, Bihma believes that knowledge and art are key tools for transforming society and bringing new life to the city.
Today, De Karanganjar is more than just a coffee plantation. It features a packaging factory, a coffee shop, a cultural and art museum, a historical museum, a café & restaurant, ATV tours through the mountains, a mosque for prayers, a vintage-style photography house with period costumes, and even hosts cultural performances and competitions for children and adults.
The campaign’s goal was to highlight the farm’s coffee production while adding value to the customer experience, showcasing the richness of the plantation beyond its coffee. The photography embraced textures, warm tones, and antique elements, bringing a retro aesthetic to life. The portraits, captured spontaneously, evoked fairy tale-like moments, reminiscent of rare, cinematic storytelling.
